Cemetery Information

The Franklin Cemetery
Est. 1880

Dedicated a historical cemetery in 1997, the Franklin Cemetery was established in 1880 along with the community of Franklin, which was the new county seat of Robertson County.

A tall, shimmering white marble obelisk marks the oldest burial site. Six Civil War veterans, two Spanish American War veterans and twenty-three handsome Woodmen of the World markers are of particular interest.

Franklin Cemetery is the final resting place of famed musicians Texas Ruby Owens Fox and writer of the song "Cattle Call", Doie "Tex" Owens. Markers for vocalists Laura Lee McBride and Dick McBride who performed and recorded with Bob Wills' Band are found here as well.

A forthcoming publication of an inventory list of names taken from monuments complete with photographs will become available as a CD and in book form in the near future. Notice of availability will be posted on this Web site.
